Episode three and we're still obsessed with podcasts! This episode sees the Castologists Patrick, Liz and Zane discuss what they thought of last week's recommendations: Casefile, The Duncan Trussell Family Hour, and Unnatural Selection. One of us might have cried a little. Then we zoom on over to this week's selections: Criminal, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History and The Smartest Man in the World Proopcast. Write to us on our socials and tell us your thoughts, or recommend a podcast we just HAVE to listen to. Find us on FACEBOOK, TWITTER or INSTAGRAM. Liz recommends - Criminal https://thisiscriminal.com
Criminal is, as the title (and website suggests) a podcast about crime. But unlike Liz's previous murdery podcasts this one walks us through all types of crime (from blackmail, to identity theft, to assault and more). Host Phoebe Judge presents fascinating little snippets (most episodes are less than 20 mins long) from the lives of people who may have committed, witnessed or been victims of the crimes. As Vulture Magazine once said: Criminal is a podcast that "sees crime as something sociological, historical, even anthropological — that crime is a function of people, time, and place. With incredible sound design, marvelous writing, and a boldness in the way it makes its choices, there are few shows that feel more alive."
Liz's recommendation for Pat: Ep #52 Money Tree (and ep #49 The Editor if he's up for it)
Liz's recommendation for Zane: ep #42 The Finger.
(Since they're short eps, Liz also recommends ep #38 Jolly Jane, ep #11 I'm About To Save Your Life, ep #45 Just Mercy, ep #48 Eight Years and ep #71 A Bump In The Night... or any others, really. So easy to digest)

Pat Recommends - Dan Carlin's Hardcore History https://www.dancarlin.com/hardcore-history-series
One of the most popular and well researched podcasts on the market. Dan Carlin takes his time to release these episodes but it is well worth the wait and obviously necessary once you realise how much time and energy went into these shows. Each episode provides hours of some of the most compelling and informative entertainment available. Some of the older shows have been archived behind a pay wall but are well worth the purchase, particularly Wrath of the Khans. Dan Carlin also hosts Hardcore History: Addendum in which he will often address topics he has been asked about, as well as bring on guests for another perspective.
For Zane: Prophets of Doom
For Liz: Thor's Angels

Zane Recommends - The Smartest Man in the World Proopcast https://www.gregproops.com/blog
“Here he is, though, in front of a live audience each week, bravely recording some of the boldest comedy on the podcasting frontier right now.” -Rolling Stone Magazine
Greg Proops is a stand up comic from San Francisco. He lives in Hollywood. It’s not that bad. Really. The Proopdog is best known for his unpredictable appearances on Whose Line is it Anyway? and Greg has lent his voice to Hell and Back, Star Wars the Phantom Menace, The Nightmare Before Christmas and he really was Bob the Builder.
He records it live in Australia, New Zealand, Montreal, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Austin, London, Paris aboard a ship in the Caribbean and somehow, Cleveland. When he has not recorded it live he will record at his home with his wife - these tend toward political rants.
“Funny, political, literate, and bold—all at once.” -New York Journal of Books
For Liz and Pat: Any episode will do, if you want to avoid the political rants, go back about a year.
