In My Country
A Story PODCAST
We hear a lot about refugees & asylum seekers, but not often do we hear from the people themselves.
In My County shares the stories of six Aussies who came to Australia as refugees or asylum seekers - in their own words. Stories of identity, religion, sexuality, the arts, parenting, culture, meaning, purpose, and the many places we call home - the show covers a range of topics and hears from a diversity of voices.
Meet Alyas, born in Afghanistan: a dad, atheist, and Game of Thrones fan who despite not knowing how to swim, waded into the ocean in the middle of the night in 2010 to board a boat to Australia. Or Liliana, an actor, skateboarder, and cultural trainer, who almost lost her life at five days old when the Chilean military raided her house.
This is a compact series that packs a punch. In six episodes, join Pia and Adam and get to know six of your neighbours.
