Giraffe's Eggs And Other African Tales
A Story-Telling PODCAST
Here we recall African legends, myths, folk, and fairytales, both in English and in French.
Ici, on se rappelle des légendes africaines, mythes, fables et contes de fées, en français et en anglais.
“The consequence of the single story is that it robs people of dignity. It makes our recognition of our equal humanity difficult and it emphasizes that we are different rather than how we are similar.” – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
This is what keeps me going. I strongly believe in using African Storytelling to create mirrors and windows for children all over the world. Mirrors for children of African descent, to see themselves, and windows for children of different backgrounds. Diversifying bookshelves and curriculums via storytelling... is my contribution to helping make this world more tolerant and understanding.
LM. Daini is an award-winning children’s author (Ivorian UK awards), and the host of the African Storytelling podcast: Giraffe’s Eggs and other African Tales. She is also a language teacher, currently teaching French in a public school.
She believes “everyone needs to read stories that are mirrors (so they can see, learn about and appreciate themselves) and windows (so they can see, learn about and appreciate others).”
She uses African folktales, myths, and legends, to help diversify bookshelves and curriculums.
In her spare time, she enjoys learning out about other cultures and ancient history. As well as looking after her 15 house plants, she likes cycling and traveling (10 countries and counting).
LM Daini was born in France but has roots in Côte D’Ivoire and Benin Republic. She currently resides in London, UK.
